Morning Melodies first show for 2017!

The greatest hits of the West End will be in the Burdekin’s backyard on Friday, 24th March with a tribute show to London’s best performances set to hit the stage at the Burdekin Theatre.

Starring Australian and West End theatre actor Philip Gould, award winning singer and actor Michelle Fitzmaurice and Philip Wheeldon, Great Composers of London’s West End will feature renditions from a host of famous musicals including Evita, Cats, Phantom of the Opera, My Fair Lady, Jesus Christ Superstar, Les Miserables, Oliver and many more.

Pearl – The Janis Joplin Show is a jazz, blues, bohemian rock musical presentation, celebrating a woman who exploded onto the music scene and quickly became the queen of rock ‘n’ roll and mother of thrift shop vintage funk.  Joplin continually left audiences speechless with unforgettable hits like “Cry Baby” and “Me and Bobby McGee.”, “ Move Over” and many more.

Paying homage to the legacy of a captivating woman who stunned fans with her extraordinary performances and simultaneously shattered stereotypes, leaving a life-long impression in the rock ‘n’ roll world.

A life story interwoven amongst 20 hit songs that shaped an era where love was fearless and rules were broken.

On 4th October 1970 Janis Joplin was found dead from a heroin overdose and in spite of her inevitable self-destruction, Janis was headed for greater musical success with her critically acclaimed album ‘Pearl’.

The Burdekin Singers’ production of The Phantom of the Opera will take to the stage tonight at the Burdekin Theatre.   

This show promises an enticing night of drama, music and mystery as the wonderfully talented Burdekin Singers bring this iconic stage show to life right here in the Burdekin.

Sydney Comedy Festival Showcase – Comedian Lineup announced!

MC for the evening is the insatiable David Williams! With over a decade of rocking stages globally his unique brand of humour has made him one of Australia’s most sought after comedians.

Highlights from the showcase will include Bart Freebairn, one of Melbourne’s great rising stars of the comedy scene. Bart has written for Good News Week, co-hosts the Something for the Drive Home podcast and regularly features on Triple J. Also taking to the stage will be the very dry Amanda Gray. This is the first time Gray has featured on the Showcase Tour and fans will be in stitches listening to her highly entertaining hate-lists and deadpan humour.

The showcase will also be featuring comedy festival regular and Sydney comic always at the top of his game, Daniel Townes as well as the absolutely hilarious Los Angeles’ Comedian of the Year of 2012, Al Del Bene, who will have audiences in stitches with his Australian references which he has closely observed in the 3 years he has been living in his adopted country.

FREE lunchtime performance by Proserpine State High School Concert Band

The Burdekin Shire Council and the Burdekin Friends of the Theatre are hosting a Gala Charity Performance Combined Bands Spectacular on Thursday, 15th September at the Burdekin Theatre from 7pm and all proceeds from the $5 entry fee will be donated to the Golden Octopus Foundation.  The performance will feature the Proserpine State High School Concert Band, the Burdekin Brass Band and the Burdekin Christian College Band.

There will also be a free lunch time performance by the Proserpine State High School Concert Band on Tuesday, 13th September commencing at 12.30pm in the shaded area of the Burdekin Theatre Forecourt.  Everyone is welcome to attend.  Please come along and enjoy your lunch while listening to the wonderful performance by Proserpine State High School Concert Band.  BYO lunch.  Tables and chairs will be provided.
