Join us for one of the most exciting Australian events of the year, the Melbourne Cup Day!
On 7 November, the Burdekin Theatre will be bringing you plenty of thrills and frivolities, with guests bringing all the fashion. The day will start from 11am, with guests receiving a sparkling wine on arrival. Guests will be treated to a smorgasbord luncheon, with the race itself live-streamed on the big-screen. The Theatre will be running a variety of games, including the running of the Burdekin Theatre Cup. There will be prizes for Best Dressed Lady and Best Dressed Gentleman, as well as lucky door prizes.
Enjoy the day with a group of friends, family or colleagues and come down to celebrate ‘the race that stops a nation’!

Red Chair and The Burdekin Theatre presents Acoustic Guitar Spectacular- 17 November 2017
Winner of the international 2016 Guitar Masters fingerstyle competition – one of the largest and most prestigious guitar competitions in the world – East Frisian guitarist Soenke Meinen embarks on his first Australian tour as part of the 2017 Acoustic Guitar Spectacular. With Bruce Mathiske – arguably the finest all-round guitarist Australia has produced (The Australian) – and Michael Fix – one of Australia’s Top 25 Guitarists of All Time – Meinen will join forces to weave memorable musical magic. Showcasing a diverse range of guitar talent from across the globe, the Acoustic Guitar Spectacular has been touring Australia annually since 2012 to sell out audiences and rave reviews.
Suitable for all ages, tickets for the two-hour Acoustic Guitar Spectacular will go on sale soon. Tickets will also include the opportunity to participate in a 45-minute Fingerstyle Guitar Workshop with Michael Fix, however numbers are limited and ticket-holders must register their interest to obtain a spot.

Get your damp face clothes and try not to get too flushed- Menopause the Musical is coming to the Burdekin in March 2018!
Menopause The Musical – Women on Fire! follows the story of four women who meet at a lingerie sale and discover they have plenty in common, including memory loss, night sweats, hot flushes, too much sex, not enough sex and much more!
The original Menopause The Musical debuted in Melbourne in 2005 for a six week season which was extended to six months. The show then went on to tour other capital cities for five years and was seen by 980,000 theatre goers across the country. Worldwide, it has been seen by 11 million people since it first opened in Florida, USA, in 2001.
Get your girl gang together, this is going to be one hot night at the Theatre!

From 7:15pm, Courtney Conway will be performing some of her many favourite country classics including Tennessee Waltz, Take Me Home Country Roads, Crazy, I Fall to Pieces and some of Courtney’s originals from her award-winning album.
The North Queensland Cowboys finals game against the Paramatta Eels will then be live-streamed, with the Burdekin Theatre bar open all night. Courtney will again perform during half time and after the game.

Next Monday, little ones and their parents will have the chance to see ‘We’re Going on a Bear hunt – Live On Stage’ at the Burdekin Theatre. This 55-minute on-stage adaption of the award-winning book by Michael Rosen and illustrated by Helen Oxenbury promises to take kids on an adventurous journey through swishy, swashy long wavy grass and through swirling, whirling snowstorms. ‘We’re Going on a Bear hunt – Live On Stage’ will feature catchy songs and plenty of interactive, hands-on adventure for children of all learning abilities.

Did you know that Classic Country starring Courtney Conway will be held in the Burdekin Theatre Foyer? This means that guests will be able visit the Theatre bar throughout the show without missing any of the performance! Guests can even pre-book a table to ensure that they don’t miss out on a seat.
