Queensland Theatre Company is the state’s flagship professional theatre company committed to the development of artists and audiences throughout the state. We look forward to developing and inspiring young people by giving them continuing opportunities to connect with the professional performing arts community through the BCCB ACTING STUDIO.
WHAT’S INCLUDED?
BCCB ACTING STUDIO is a practical and inspiring acting workshop over 5 days for 40 young people and teenagers. Topics covered include acting and reacting, elements of movement, voice, physical theatre, improvisation and approaches to character and text. Participants are taught in small groups of no more than 20.
Workshops culminate with each group presenting a short showcase of the new skills and techniques they have learnt. It’s an event the whole community can enjoy with family, friends and the general public invited to attend.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Queensland Theatre Company manage and provide:
• the Actors/Directors
• the workshops and any materials the participants need (such as handouts)
Burdekin Cultural Complex provides:
• the workshop and rehearsal space
• all lighting and sound requirements to present the showcase
• all marketing and promotion of workshops and showcase
WHEN IS IT AVAILABLE AND WHO CAN BOOK?
BCCB ACTING STUDIO will be conducted at Burdekin Cultural Complex during the school holidays, from Monday, 28th September, 2009 to Friday, 2nd October, 2009. Bookings are only available at The Burdekin Theatre and are taken on a first-come, first-served basis. The minimum age to participate is 15.
WHAT DOES IT COST?
All participants must pay the fee of $40.00, which is the total cost, at time of booking, to secure a place in workshops and showcase.
Tickets for family, friends and the general public to attend the Friday evening showcase performance will cost $5.00 per ticket.Duration: 5 Days
