ANNE KIRKPATRICK  & ROB BLACK

TOGETHER IN A COUNTRY MUSIC SPECTACULAR

This amazing Country Music Spectacular show will be presented by the Burdekin Cultural Complex Board at the Burdekin Theatre on Tuesday, 6th May at 8:00pm. Tickets are on sale now.

Anne Kirkpatrick has been elevated to the Country Music Roll of Renown, becoming the 39th recipient; 31 years after her father Slim Dusty. The Country Music Roll of Renown was established by Radio 2TM in 1976 to recognise and salute those artists who have made a lasting and significant contribution to Australian country music. Inductees are determined by the Australian Country Music Foundation and announced during the January country music festival in Tamworth, Australia's Home of Country Music.

Recording her first solo album in 1974, she won her first Golden Guitar in 1979 for Female Vocal. Over her long and highly acclaimed career, she has won 5 more Golden Guitars including 2 for Album and Female Vocal and an Aria Award for her Watershed Album “Out of the Blue” in 1991.  A talented songwriter with a unique vocal style, Anne achieved great success as a recording artist and performer – both as an individual and in concert with her parents, Slim Dusty and Joy McKean and her family. Through more than four decades, Anne’s ability to blend a contemporary style with traditional themes has influenced the way many Australians think about modern country music and her early success helped prepare the way for the many young artists who followed in her footsteps.

Rob Black has been described by country great, Lee Kernaghan as “One of the hottest singer/guitarists to rock Australian country since Keith Urban”. This acknowledgement has been justified with Rob performing to rave reviews at country festivals such as The Gympie Muster, Mud Balls and Music and the QUT Urban Country Music Festival. He has also toured with some of Australia’s biggest names in country music including playing along side Dancing With The Stars winner, Adam Brand.

Attracting high profile attention, Rob recently paired up with Lee Kernaghan in a QLD Government event celebrating Queensland’s 150 years of independence which was broadcast across the state. He has also performed live on channel 7’s Morning Show, which Compass Brothers Records owner Graham Thompson rated as one of the best he had seen.

Rob’s very first single and title track to the debut album ‘Regular Guy’ not only stayed in the Country Music Channel’s top 30 chart for more than 10 weeks, but also set the tone for the rest of the album. Rob’s next two singles debuted as ‘Clip of the Week’ on CMC with ‘Turn Up Your Radio’ hanging around in the Top Ten and “I’m in Love & It’s Getting Worse’ climbing both the CMC Top 30 and Country Radio top 20 charts.

All these accomplishments drew the attention of the Country Music Association of Australia this year in Tamworth where he was nominated for a Golden Guitar for Best New Talent.

Having Anne Kirkpatrick and Rob Black together in one great performance makes this a concert that should definitely not to be missed, so, do not delay, get your tickets now.
